Kansas man who flipped off cop gets $5,000 from city

A Kansas man who flipped off a police officer after being issued a ticket for running a stop sign is geting rewarded with $5,000. The city of Olathe settled a civil rights complaint filed by Scott Schaper of Overland Park, KS. He was ticketed for disorderly conduct; when he flipped the bird. The city of Olathe agreed to pay the $5,000 from it's insurance and the American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas and western Mo. Schaper said the only reason he reacted the way he did is because the traffic stop had made his children cry.

I agree they SHOULD pay him. It is not illegal to flip someone off. That's called freedom of expression. I am glad he won his case. Police Officer's are supposed to be used to this kind of behavior.

Police: Man tortured 4-year-old to death for wetting his pants

     Brandon Joshua-Frederich Hayes, 24, is bing charged with 9 charges after he allegedly beat his girlfriends 4 year old son to death for wetting his pants. Some of the charges include first-degree premeditated murder, first-degree child abuse, and torture. The boy, Dominick, was punched, kicked, and burned. The boy's mother was present for atleast some of the beating and tried to shield the boy from Hayes' aggression, authorities said. However, the police are still looking into the role of the mother, Corrine Baker. Some of the mothers whereabouts and actions through all portions of the torture session remain somewhat hazy. They are now trying to locate her and cannot find her.

WOW! What a mother! NOT!

   What kind of police officers worked this case? They should know no matter what is going on a mother would never abandon their child during something like this. A real mother who cared would have tried to do more. Plus, she was only there for some of the beating? If she left why didn't she call the cops and not the sister who showed up to score drugs? I hope the police find her and charge her for murder as well.

Ancient skeletal remains shed new light on evolution

Scientists may have discovered a new branch on your family tree. In South Africa, a team of researchers unearthed remains that are believed to be remains of an unkown species. They discovered a couple of partial skeletons; an adult female and a young male hominid, that are nearly 2 million years old. The species is thought to have been taller and stronger than older species like "Lucy," the roughly 3 million year old skeleton discovered in 1974. The team leader says this discovery may help clarify a murky biological picture of that time. The discovery of the remains was akin to stepping into a time machine, says Dr. Lee Berger.

Mexican police: 'Survivor' producer detained in wife's death

A police investigation suggests that the wife of a former producer on CBC' "Survivors" reality T.V. show; died of strangulation. The former producer, Bruce Beresford-Redman, reported his wife missing two days prior to her body being found. Her body was found in a sewer at a resort in Cancun, Mexico. The are a lot of hear say that she left him do to him haveing an affair. All this is so far just a rumor. However he is being detained.

  Hasn't he ever been told that it is cheaper to just sell your wife in Mexico and get away with it than killing in Mexico. I love the show survivors; so this article really appealed to me. Marine officer: Gays, straights shouldn't share housing

Marine Corps' top oficer says he would want to avoid housing gay and straight Marines in the same rooms on the base if ban on gays openly serving in the military is lifted. An overwhelming number of service members male and female have stated that they DON'T want to share quarters with a gay person.

This is my point.

So, where is the funding going to come from? DUH! US! I think we have the perfect policy we don't ask and you don't tell. This doesn't mean you can't be gay and serve this gives a gay person the choice. In my husbands last unit he was in that went to Iraq there was someone that was gay and most of the unit knew it. Now I will not go into detail on who this person is because they are still serving and I do NOT want no harm to come to them; but when I asked this person what they thought they said the ban should NOT be lifted do to safety reasons. That it was bad enough to worry about their life while serving in the war, but when they transfered units after returning home they are afraid to talk about it do to the threats now going on in the military if the ban is lifted.

Unemployment on the rise for veterans of current wars

Unemployment rates are on the rise for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan war. It has reached 14.7 percent as of this March. Veterans groups are mad they say this is unacceptable! Tom Tarantino says" This is no way to welcome home a new generation of heroes!" The reasons for the high unemployment rate is due to poor transfer skills, lack of help from the military, and more. One example was that they have combat medics who are doing amazing feats of emergency medical care in the field; but when they get home most states, they're not qualified to drive an ambulance. Sullivan says soliders would make great employees, because they're loyal, hardworking, and they've worked in the hardest conditions imaginable.

This is the truth and it has gone on for many generations of vets. Look at other war vets, they are out living on the streets. I think we need to be more concerned about this then GAY people. Pentagon faces hurdles in 'don't ask, don't tell' study

The Pentagon is trying to remove the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Defense secretary Robert Gates is seeking opinions of gay troops, but is finding it very difficult to do since gays know if they say their gay they can be kicked out of the military. So, they are urging soilders to come out and just speak their opinions.

I mean let's ask gay troops how they feel about lifting the ban, but if the troops speak up they get kicked out. Who would come forward? I look at like this: I don't care if your gay, black, white, chinese, Jewish, or whatever leave well enough alone. Your just going to hurt more people if you point out who is gay and who is not. Doesn't this remind you of the slaves day when the US was seperated black and white and NOW you people are trying to seperated it at Gays and straights. Everything was fine before we started giving SPECIAL treatment to them. Leave it ALONE your just going to hurt innocent people in the long run.

Student charged with stealing rare documents

FBI agents arrest William Scott, 18 on March 14th and accuse him of steeling documents and rare letters from archive. In the 25 years the university has hired students to work in the archive and has never had a problem like this. The theft wasn't even noticed until a potiential buyer recieved damaged documents. Some of the stolen items included: letters from President Abraham Lincoln, President Roosevelt and madame Chaing Kaishek. Alot of money was stolen and ruined.

Ford shows off its new cop car

This article is on the Ford Motor Co. brand new police interceptor. It is going to replace the Crown Victoria Sedans in 2011. Mississippi school sued for canceling prom over lesbian student

In this article A Mississippi high school faces a lawsuit over their decision to cancel prom. There reason to cancel prom is because they do not want to allow a lesbian high school student to attend with her girlfriend. Also, on the school's defense there is a memorandum which states that prom dates MUST be of the opposite sex. The lawsuit alleges this is a violation of her right to freedom of expression.

Soldier gets Silver Star, reprimand for same battle

In this article a solider recieves a silver star for his brave actions during an attack in Afghanistan. Then later recieves a letter of reprimand for the same attack. Two other soldiers are going through the same thing. It also says the location they were defending is a very hard place to defend. 9 soliders were killed, 12 wounded, and about 100 Talibans were killed.

NFL star Roethlisberger accused of sexual assault

This article is about a NFL star Roethlisberger who is accused of sexual assualt. One of the women he had been hanging out with all night is the accuser. Authorities have not charged anyone; follow-up interviews are still going on. There was a civil complaint filed against him last year it also alleges sexual assualt. He and eight Harrah's employees are named in this suit, which seeks atleast $390,000, plus unspecified damages from the defendents.

Air traffic controller, supervisor on leave after kids talk to pilots

This article is about an air traffic controller at New York airport; who brought his kids to work with him and let them talk to airline pilots. Both the controller and the supervisor have been placed on paid administrative leave. The pilots. who the young boy was talking to, thought it was great that he brought his child to work with him and wished they could do the same. It was a very controlled and safety was not not compromised at any time. Some people believe he should not be punished for this, but the FAA says this is just poor judgment and that the controller should have known better. There was no security threat of any kind.

This article to me is just plain crazy.

I mean wasn't there a time when companies had bring your child to work day? Come on everybody had a good time with it, even the pilots, why take this wayyy out of context. I could see if the child was all alone and causing problems, but he wasn't he was well supervised and did excactly as he was told. I give the air controller two thumbs up at being a great dad!! I am disgusted with all of this.

Here we are in America fighting to get a health care plan and we are just giving free medical care and supplies away for free to other Countries, but we can't do it for our own??? Anybody have a problem with this? I do! Our National debt is at an all time high; right along with unemployment. My Lord, does anybody listen to our problems. They say we are in a depression. Yet, we are donating milllions of money, medical supplies, and free health care to other countries, but are NOT willing to do the same for our people. When will the madness stop? Where was other countries when hurricane Katrina hit??? No where!!! But, when another nation needs are help we go running. Here I am starting a donation program it's called HELP AMERICA! You may donate by putting your money into my paypal account. What no donations? Why? Because you don't trust me to use the money in the way I said I would. What a shock! Did anybody read about how much money these countries got and how much of it went to their government, NOT the poor vivtims. Does anybody remember the Salvation Army Scandal a few years back. When will the people of America open their eye's and see the truth.

Smelly Girl Scout cookies OK to eat

This article is all about smelly Girl Scout cookies! MMMmmmmm! Everyone has their favorit Girl Scout cookie. The most popular are thin mints, caramel delights, and the shortbread. But, look out for the Lemon Chalet Cremes, because when you open a box you might get a foul smell or taste. Littl Brownie Bakers, one of the makers of Girl Scout cookies say while there safe to it they might smell. The smell is due to some of the oils improperly breaking down in the cookies. If you get a smelly box you can get a return if you want to. These cookies are only sold in 24 states and Missouri is NOT one of them.

I had to do this one because my daughter is in Girl Scouts and we do sell Girl Scout cookies.

So, I am greatful the cookies are not harmful, but I personally would want to be warned before purchasing or selling a box of them. I mainly did this article to inform consumers of Girl Scout cookies. I believe as a seller it's our duty to do what's right and warn people even if we do not sell that kind of cookie here in Missouri!

Red tape, bad traffic, no power: 'That's Haiti'

This article is for all those who sent donations to Haiti.
This article tells about how American relief workers went to the airport to pick up several tons of donations, but when they got there they found that the whole system had came to a hault. A doctor that came to treat 300 patients a day for six days was still waiting after 3 days for the medicime to treat them. She screamed at customs, but customs woould not budge. There is now a new procedure for getting supplies into the country. Organizations now have to sign over the goods to the Hatian Department of Civil Protection which will review there request to get a tax exemption before realeasing the goods. People who brought in tents to get people out of the rain were told they would have to pay taxes on the tents that they were giving away to the Hati people.

This article just makes my statements more true about how we should be helping our own country not others.

Suspected Colo. School Gunman Was Inside Building Hours Before Shooting

This article is about a true hero. A math teacher tackles a school shooter. Benke is the man of the hour. He confronted the school shooter, tackled him, and pinned him to the ground with the help of another teacher. The only thing Benke had to say was the he was upset that the shooter got another shot off before he could grab him. He also stated that the shooter figured out that he wasn't going to be able to get another round off before he got to him, so the shooter dropped the gun and they started struggling. Now Benke has become a national hero. A facebook page called "Dr. David Benke..A true hero!" quickly grew 17,000 members by wednesday morning Benke's actions were discussed on the floor of the state Senate.

I think there should be more teachers out there like him! I loved this article.

Missouri House introduces medical marijuana bill

I got a lot of E-mails about me putting down a fellow class mate about "POT" so, I decide to blog an article about why I said what I said. My fellow class mate put down "pot" without knowing that there is research going on with marijuana. This class mate thouth it was bad. Well I know from a personal experince that "pot" saves lives. My daughter is here because of it. Yes! I was under a doctors orders on using it. I didn't go out and just use it. In this article it states that they are trying to pass a bill to legalize medical marijuana. It also talks about how marijuana would help a lot of patients. It helps with cancer, althimers, and pain. It also states that like any other prescription pain medicine there is a possible addiction. This is just the start of the bill. It also states that many people who are supporting the bill and why. Also states some physicians that support the bill and there views on medical marijuana.

I am NOT a person who smokes it or needs it. The reason I support this is because I have seen the positive side and have yet to see the down side of this drug. As in everything I am sure there are down sides to marijuana but, there is a down side to every medicine thats why they give you a sheet full of side effects. Look at a commonly used medicine Tylnol. Over the years it kills the lining of your stomach. If you take too many you can die of an over dose. Ever heard in the news that somebody died from smoking to much marijuana? Look at it if you had cancer. Chemo makes you weak and sick. I know my grandpa died of colon cancer. For a few years as my grandpa died, I help take care of him and seen what chemo did to him. Too bad he didn't smoke pot because he might still be alive today or at the very least he would have atleast been strong enough to walk and live normal till he did die and he wouldn't have been in constant pain! So, think before you type back. Remember that FACTS speak louder than opinions. Also remember that statement opinion are like buttholes everyone has them!

Miss California Could Sue for Discrimination, Legal Analyst Says

Yes, this is an old article, but it deserves more attention than it got! This article goes in to saying that Miss Calfornia, Carrie Prejean might have grounds to sue for dicrimination. Due to Hilton's question on same-sex marriage. Carrie is a christian and goes to to a christian college. So, when the question was asked she choose her faith over a crown. He decision led her to loose the Miss America 2009 crown. They now say that she could sue for stress. Ultimatly people are trying to say that even if she takes this case she will loose. Because it might be said that we are not allowed to discriminate on the basis of religion. That is now said to only apply in the world not pageants.

I can't even discribe the emotions I have for this article.

Tiger Woods apologizes for affairs; return to golf unknown

This Article is all about Tiger Woods comming out and admitting he had an affair. He made a formal apology that lasted about a little over 13 minutes. HIs wife was not present during his formal apology. There were about 40 people there. He also stated he would be going to an unamed center for more treatment and thearpy. He also stated that his apologizes to his wife would be between them two. He did not say when he would be returning to golf, but that he would be returning.

3 dead, 3 hurt in Alabama campus shooting

In this Article The shooter was a female faculty member. They are not releasing her name at this time. She came in for a meeting and ended up killing three biology proffesors and injured three other employees at the school. University police secured the building and the students were cleared from it. Another man was arrested ans bieng questioned on the shooting as well.

In this Article Every state right now has snow in it except Hawaii. Snow does fall in Hawaii despite what some may think. There is just no snow there yet. Meteorologist Brian Korty says it's extremely rare to have so many states with snow.

I know this is a short article about the weather but, this is such a rare event I wanted to share it with everyone. I mean even Florida and Arizona have snow.

Rare illness turns girl, 15, into ‘sleeping beauty’ But it’s no fairy tale; asleep for days on end, she has to be wakened to eat

This Article is about a 15 year old girl who really falls asleep for days, sometimes weeks. She has a rare condition called Kleine-Levin Syndrome. It is very rare under 1,000 people have it. Her parents say it's a pain because she has to be waken up to use the bathroom and eat; and when they get her up it's like she is in a tranze and has hardly any energy to lift her eyelids. There is no cure or medicine that can help her. She hopes to one day grow out of it.

Wow, where's the cute Prince Charming? I feel so sorry for this girl. I would hate to loose out on my life like that.

A Ray of hope clouded by 8.4 million jobless

In this Article "The government's report on job market in January offered fresh hope that the economy is at last pulling out of it's worst downturn since the Great Depression." The article goes on to say that the data offered little cause for celebration. That the job rate dropped from 10% to 9.7%. That a lot of people were starting to get part time jobs, but wanted full time pay. They say if we just stay patiecent for the next 3-6 months that jobs will start back up. But, offered no proof or cause for celebration. That it would take the economy creating 100,000 to 125,000 jobs a month to keep up with population growth. Mark Zandi said "I don't think we're close yet to even a stable rate at this point. We have yet to see any hiring. Until we get real, positive, substantive job growth, it's hard to conclude this is a self-sustaining economy.

I agree with Mark Zandi. Do they really think they can throw this at us and make us feel better and hopefull?

They show NO proof of jobs comming back. People are getting part time jobs because a part time job is better than no job! Duh! Why try to give us hope when there is none. This is why I get so upset about raising money for other countries. Look 8.4 million people are without a job! Who's helping them? My husband was one of those who's job got sent overseas; thanks to Bush haveing open the doors for business to go to other countries. So, hats off to Bush for Screwing his own nation. But don't worry about him we pay his bills with our tax paying money.

So, here's my questions when are we going to ask the RICH to donate to the poor! For christmas my husband had to voulunteer to do work for the military in another country so his daughters could have christmas. Yes, you heard me my husband had to risk his life just to pay the bills and get christmas for our kids! All because his normal job went overseas. Where is the JUSTICE? When do we stand up and help our own? I am really starting to hate this country. We pay for every other nation and we listen to the ads on tv where you can send money to help the starving children of another poor country, but nobody will open their wallets to their own fellow Americans. Here's the definition of America. America- A truly retarded Nation that cares more about other nations then their own.
Sad part is my husband is in the Army and we are very patriotic, but it's hard to support a RETARDED nation!

Photo retouching has become so popular that lawmakers in France and the U.K. have proposed to pass a legislation that will require health warnings on images that have been digitally altered. Cosmetic-surgery procedures have nearly doubled over the past decade. Nora Ephron said we are looking more and more like the airbrushed version of ourselves.

I like this article and the facts it brings to the table. I also felt that this is a story that needs to be covered more, so that young girls know they are beautiful just the way they are.

I definitely agree that there should be a warning label on the digitally enhanced photos to warn young girls that this has been faked; so young girls are not lining up to get cosmetic surgeries or starving themselves.

This story to me is an eye opener. You always here about anorexia or bulimic on the rise, but never show or point the finger where the blame falls. I agree about warning labels. These digitally enhanced or cosmetic surgery pictures make young girls try to look just like them. When a young girl does this they do not usually know the risk. We always here on the news about how cigarettes can cause so much damage and even death, but these images do the same to our young teenagers.

New Jersey Senate defeats same-sex marriage bill

I found this article at CNN politics Source:  This story is about New Jersey Senate defeating the same-sex marriage; 14-20. Had this bill passed, New Jersey would have been the sixth state to allow same-sex marriage. To help try to pass this bills some senators compared same-sex marriage to slavery. After, hearing the bill had not passed people against same-sex marriages cheered; and pro-senators vowed they would take this bill to the courts and are optimistic about the courts passing it.

I was excited to hear that the bill was not passed; and I continue to hope it never gets passed in New Jersey or any other state. I am completely opposed to same-sex marriage. I have no problems with same-sex couples; I have a mother-in-law whose is gay and also a niece. Both are openly gay and I love them just the same as my other relatives.

In this article I was shocked that they compared same-sex marriages to African-Americans and slavery. I do not seen any relevancy here.

I also believe in GOD in the word of the bible. Leviticus 20:13 says " If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them." Also, this Nation was built under GOD. Look at your dollar bills they say "In God we trust!" Another example is the Pledge of Allegiance: I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, invisible, with liberty and justice for all. Doesn't that make the United States a HYPOCRITE. Either we are a nation under GOD or we are NOT! I think this country needs a head check, because you can't have it both ways. Why teach our children the Pledge of Allegiance if we are NOT going to follow it?

Haiti contributions deductible for 2009 taxes

This article is about how the senate passed a bill that will allow taxpayers to deduct cash donations to the Haiti relief program from their taxes. It even goes as far as cellphones are deductible if you have proof. They say this is way to get more people to donate and help. So, far the Haiti relief have exceeded $220 million.

My reaction to this story is that I am disgusted. This has definitely been a true eye opener for me. I mean really a tax deductible for helping another country in need that's just great. But, what about our own country?

I am disgusted with this story because we live in America; where there are vets from past wars living on the streets. Everyday that passes more and more people are loosing their jobs, but lets give whoever donates to another country a tax write off. Are you serious? If that's the case why don't they make a donate to the "Poor People in America fund" and help our own nation? Their are kids starving, sleeping on streets, and we can't have free health care, but we can use are money for other nations. Their are still people from hurricane Katrina in need of help. I would like everybody to just stop for a moment and think of these wise words "You can't help other's until you have helped yourself." Doesn't this apply to our nation as well? Police brutality on teen

This article is about a black teenage boy who was allegedly beaten by three white police officers.The black teenage boy was Jordan Miles. Jordan Miles is an honor student and has no police record. The police officers say he look suspicious so they got out of a car and said they were the police. Then Jordan Miles went to run but fell, the police then used a stun gun and hit him a few times. They are charging Jordan Miles with aggravated assault, loitering, resisting arrest, and escape. However, Jordan's mother says she will soon be filing a civil rights claim against the officers. The major said he is taking this case serious and will be looking into this matter.


My response to this article is that this is a classic hate crime. I don't believe these officers had any reason to beat this teenager up; then charge him for crimes. I am white, and if three white officers stepped out of a normal car in street clothes and said they were the police, I would not believe them either. I would definitely run from them as well if I knew I had not been doing anything wrong, or the police had no reason to stopping me.
