Marine Corps' top oficer says he would want to avoid housing gay and straight Marines in the same rooms on the base if ban on gays openly serving in the military is lifted. An overwhelming number of service members male and female have stated that they DON'T want to share quarters with a gay person.
This is my point.
So, where is the funding going to come from? DUH! US! I think we have the perfect policy we don't ask and you don't tell. This doesn't mean you can't be gay and serve this gives a gay person the choice. In my husbands last unit he was in that went to Iraq there was someone that was gay and most of the unit knew it. Now I will not go into detail on who this person is because they are still serving and I do NOT want no harm to come to them; but when I asked this person what they thought they said the ban should NOT be lifted do to safety reasons. That it was bad enough to worry about their life while serving in the war, but when they transfered units after returning home they are afraid to talk about it do to the threats now going on in the military if the ban is lifted.
I was in the military for almost a decade. I don't really see what the issue is. If a person is gay, who cares. What matters in the military is simple, can he soldier, can he shoot, will he save your ass if you're in a jam? If the answer is yes who gives a crap who he has sex with when he goes home. I'm tired of people alway equating homosexuals with sexual diviants. Gay males aren't rapists, you have nothing to fear, they aren't going to try to have sex with somone who isn't gay. I guess what I'm trying to say is, gay or not if you can soldier then you should be able to be in the military.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I just don't want to pay for their housing unit.
ReplyDeletei agree with both you guys, i mean why pay for another housing unit? We as people walk around the town seeing gay people and going to school with them. Thats almost like asking if we can put gay people in a different school! I think the dont ask dont tell policy is working just fine. The main concern with gay people is having a fear of being bashed. These men and women are out there fighting for our right to do almost anything! They shouldnt have to worry about being bashed, or being kicked out for who they want to love. They should be treated like everyone else in the military, with much respect from EVERYONE!
