I found this article at CNN politics Source: This story is about New Jersey Senate defeating the same-sex marriage; 14-20. Had this bill passed, New Jersey would have been the sixth state to allow same-sex marriage. To help try to pass this bills some senators compared same-sex marriage to slavery. After, hearing the bill had not passed people against same-sex marriages cheered; and pro-senators vowed they would take this bill to the courts and are optimistic about the courts passing it.
I was excited to hear that the bill was not passed; and I continue to hope it never gets passed in New Jersey or any other state. I am completely opposed to same-sex marriage. I have no problems with same-sex couples; I have a mother-in-law whose is gay and also a niece. Both are openly gay and I love them just the same as my other relatives.
In this article I was shocked that they compared same-sex marriages to African-Americans and slavery. I do not seen any relevancy here.
I also believe in GOD in the word of the bible. Leviticus 20:13 says " If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them." Also, this Nation was built under GOD. Look at your dollar bills they say "In God we trust!" Another example is the Pledge of Allegiance: I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, invisible, with liberty and justice for all. Doesn't that make the United States a HYPOCRITE. Either we are a nation under GOD or we are NOT! I think this country needs a head check, because you can't have it both ways. Why teach our children the Pledge of Allegiance if we are NOT going to follow it?
Thank you. I believe that we must preserve marriage between a man and a women. I appreciate your reference to the Bible, which is very appropriate. One of my sisters is gay. I love my sister, and as my mother always says "you can love the sinner but you don't love the sin." Great job on this post.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, also. These people who want to compare gay marriage to slavery are just using the race card to "guilt" people into doing what they want. The race card is always used these days by Dimocrats who are losing an argument. I am so tired of people voting on things, but then when elected officials are unhappy with the results, they want to take the issue to court and have it forced upon us!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I was glad to hear your thoughts on loving people, even in their sin. We all sin, and are all loved by our Father. It is our job to take that love that He has for us, and instead of hold onto it, to pass it along. If we were to only love those that never sin, only one would be loved. We cannot excuse the sin nor the Biblical view of it, but we can continue to show His love to those who sin.
